Martin Laverick : Director of Health Safety & Environment

Esh Group

I have been actively involved with Health & Safety in the Construction sector for the last 12 years. I first joined Lumsden & Carroll Construction in July 1999 having previously visited their sites while working as a consultant. Since joining the company my role has now evolved to the role of Senior Safety Advisor to  Esh Group, therefore I am now responsible for Health & Safety issues across all group companies, which have different procedures and practices in place according to the work they conduct.

I attained a NEBOSH General Certificate at Newcastle College and then went on to South Tyneside College where I gained a Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health. I am now a chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH).

Martin Laverick

My daily duties include visiting sites and other Esh Group offices to advise on all Health & Safety issues and policies. Variety is the spice of life, and this position offers me the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects while setting a high standard of safety throughout the Group.

In 2002, I became Secretary of the Tyne & Wear branch (Construction Sector) of IOSH, a role I still undertake. In 2003 I was also given the opportunity and became Chairman of Newcastle Construction Safety Group for the required 2 years and I remain on the Executive Committee of this Group.
